Richards - Shepherd 9th April

63 miles.
Last day as sweep, not sorry that task is over.

First part of ride was through a forest, quite picturesque. Then on thorough small Texan towns. The noticible difference in landscape has come a difference in people.

The early part of Texas was all white in population, this has now began to change as we have moved to the east of Texas. Met a nice lady called Judy at her store in Punkin. She took m picture of me for her Facebook page. Below is a Judy, with my bike and with her friends. She is the one in the middle and the other ladies are Veronica and Bridget, nice to chat to them.

Ran over a snake as I came into camp, it was crossing the road, I didn't see it till the last moment, It was about eighteen inches long. Didn't stop to take a photo, in case it was still alive or its family members came after me!!!

Interesting camping venue, set up for cyclists, showers and bathtub open to the sky. Had very nice bath looking at the trees and sky.

Tonight we were treated to a Cajun meal of red beans and rice, followed by Pecan pie. This was prepared by family of Steve, one of our group. His sister in law and husband drove two hours to bring us the meal. Not far by US standards!

Going to sleep with a very loud chorus of frogs outside the tent tonight.
