Tallahassee-Madison ( Yogi Bear, Yellowstone park ) 28th April

84 miles.

Started the ride through some beautiful lanes covered by a canopy of trees.

It was just like cycling through the English countryside. Met a turtle crossing the road, seemed only fair to give a helping hand.

On my travels stopped off at a gas station that also sold hot food, beige, is all I can say about that. No colour at all the the food on offer.

Staying in Yogi bear's park. Swimming pool and water slide, we all had a go.

I was cooking tonight with Phat, we cooked special fried rice, with salad and a cheese board for desert.

The temperatures and humidity have gone up over the last few days. Tonight is particularly warm. I don't think sleeping will be that comfortable.

Tallahassee. 27th April

No Miles.
 Day in Tallahassee.

Replaced worn out saddle .

Time for laundry and sorting out stuff to be shipped ahead.

Another diary queen ice cream, better not make a habit of these.

Marianna- Tallahassee 26th April

77 Miles.
Tired today, found the 77 miles a little tough.

Rode some of the way with Doug and Jim, which helped. Strange day.... one of our leaders has been sacked. It's been on the cards for a while, most are very relieved not to be dealing with her nonsense any more.

Into Tallahassee to a motel, out to dinner. Decided to have steak, (my biyearly foray into meat eating) followed by a trip to Dairy Queen for a peanut butter sundae, delicious!

De Funiak Springs-Marianna 25th April

94 Miles.
Lovely spot by the lake to wake up to.

On we go... not many more days now.

Came across a gas station that sold guns, ammo and beer!!!

Wondered if this was the best combination!

Stayed in a state park. Lovely pool for a dip, though maybe I should have read the sign before taking the plunge!!

Matt found this verily cute turtle.

Black water state park - De- Funiak Springs

57 miles.
Ride interrupted by need for wifi at local library. Managed to upload five days of blogs and do some other internet stuff.

Caught up with washing, including a very smelly pair of cycling shoes!!

Camped tonight at lovely lake, very restful location.

Lillian, Pensacola - Blackwater state Park 23rd April

86 miles.

Evan and I decided to lengthen the ride a little and ride over to Santa Rosa island.

Lovely ride on a road through miles of sand dunes, before crossing back over to the main land.

Sad news today, Steve one of our group, fell on his ride and unfortunately broke his femur and collarbone. He is in a local hospital, expecting to have surgery tomorrow morning.

So that is his ride over, such a pity for him and his friend Matt who he was cycling with. They are great friends (pictured below) and wanted to complete the trip together, Matt has decided to continue with the ride.

Dauphin Island -Lillian Pensacola 22nd April

90 miles.

Yet again I extended the mileage, seemed like a good idea at the time!

The route did not go right into the city, stopping short about fourteen miles west. I was making good time so decided to go into the city and the. backtrack to the camp site. Quite a fun ride on comparatively flat roads.

I had started the day with a ferry ride across Mobile bay, which is on the Mississippi sound. From the ferry we looked out on the Gulf of Mexico, not surprisingly a lot of oil platforms.

The cycling from here on in was on several slivers of land surrounded by water. A coastal route that started in Alabama, through into Florida, although our campsite tonight is back in Alabama, 14 miles back west of the city.

Lovely spot to camp my tent is about eight feet from the waters edge. On arrival this afternoon I went straight in for a dip in full cycling gear. Seemed the only sensible thing to do!

Vancleave - Dauphin Island 21st April

70 miles.

Crossed into the state of Alabama today.

Nice ride to the tiny island of Dauphin. A tiny sliver of land in the Mississippi sound.

A five mile causeway to get on to the island, lots of Pelicans along the way.

Staying in the garden of a guy called Ron. A cycling enthusiast that allows cyclist to camp on his land.

Treated to a fabulous shrimp dish cooked by Robin, one of the group members.

P.s. I've found all the trump supporters. Lots of Trump boards up along the roads.
